Two local high schools will receive grants later this month from the Georgia Appalachian Center for Higher Education (GACHE).

Gordon Central High School and Sonoraville High School will both receive checks from GACHE during the group’s annual meeting on Monday, Oct. 25 at The Forum in Rome.

GCHS and SHS are among 30 North Georgia high schools that will share in $200,000 in the 1010 grant awards.

Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue; Mike Beatty, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs and Earl F. Gohl, co-chair of the Appalachian Regional Commission, are among the officials scheduled to attend the check presentation ceremony.
