GNTC holds law enforcement graduation

Georgia Northwestern Technical College will be having a law enforcement graduation on Friday, Oct. 15 at 6:30 p.m.

Ten Basic Law Enforcement recruits will graduate from the first night class for the academy.

The guest speaker at the ceremony will be James C. Newsome Jr., assistant chief of the Cedartown Police Department. Newsome was appointed assistant chief and began his post at the Cedartown Police Department in 2008. He started his career in law enforcement with the Polk County Sheriff's office in 1990 as a jail officer.

The ceremony will honor a graduate with an award for academic distinction and the “Top Gun” award for excellence in marksmanship.

The graduation will be held in the Raymond F. King auditorium at the GNTC campus in Gordon County.
