Thirty members of Ashworth Middle School’s cross country team participated in Gordon County’s 17th annual Unity Run on Tuesday evening, which helped AMS win the award for most participants for the third consecutive year.

Ashworth Middle School had a very strong showing as well. Not only did AMS take home the Middle School Challenge Award, but several of their runners won individual awards.

Nolan Swaim finished 3rd overall in the women’s division and 1st place in the middle school division.

In the boys division, AMS runners Ulysses Canchola, Drake Bray, and Ishmael Guevera claimed the top three places.

AMS cross country coaches, Daniel and Connie Worley, also participated in the 5k.

Coach Worley stated, “We’re thrilled that so many students volunteered to participate in this event. The Unity Run is an excellent way for members of our community to come together, no matter what school they’re affiliated with. These boys and girls are setting a great example for their peers.”
