Three young women from Calhoun have teamed together to support the fight against breast cancer.

Michelle Brown, Kara Murphy and Nicole Magliochetti, also known as team “Island Girls,” have organized several fundraising events to raise money for breast cancer research.

They will be walking 60 miles in three days during the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure event in Atlanta Oct. 22-24. Proceeds from the event go to Komen for the Cure to support research, education, screening and treatment.

The women hope to raise money for Komen for the Cure through several local events.

The first event already happened.

The second event is a car wash Saturday, Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Dairy Queen in Cahoun.

Call 770-547-9172 for more information on either event.
