Jessica Legenia Arnold and Kevin Bruce Mattox were married at 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 11, at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Armuchee.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Eugene Arnold of Armuchee.

The groom is the son of Rev. and Mrs. Douglas Mattox of Calhoun.

The Rev. Mattox, father of the groom, performed the double ring ceremony before an altar decorated with lighted ferns, fichus trees, and marine blue and white calla lilies with an arched baptistery draped in marine blue organza. White organza bows, accented the pews and family pews were marked with marine blue and white calla lilies and white organza bows. The sanctuary was adorned with marine blue organza and white organza bows. The windows were accented with marine blue and white calla lilies and white organza bows as well as calla lilies tea lights. The chandeliers were adorned with marine blue boa balls. The front entrance was marked with matching initial wreaths made from marine blue boas and white calla lilies.

A program of wedding music included “Cannon in D” by Pachebel, “The Bridal Chorus” by Wagner, “Wedding March” by Mendelssohn, “Ave Maria” by Bach and “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” by Bach were performed by harpist Fay Steelnack. “The Lord’s Prayer,” “The Mother’s and Father’s Prayer,” “Only God Could Love You More,” and “Surely the Presence of the Lord” were performed by vocalist Michelle Nalley, Brian and Amy Padgett.

Baylee Branton of Armuchee was the maid of honor, niece of the bride. Bridesmaids were Cyja King and Redonna Branton of Armuchee, sisters of the bride.

The maid of honor wore a cocktail-length marine blue, strapless satin dress embellished with white ribbon flowers and flowing white sash. Bridesmaids wore floor length marine blue, sleeveless A-line satin dresses accented with a white empire waist ribbon. All attendants carried fresh white roses and calla lilies bouquets that were hand tied with marine blue and white beads.

The flower girl was Elauria Mattox, niece of the groom, of Calhoun. She wore a white sleeveless satin dress with marine blue satin roses draping the skirt and shoulder area. A sash and bow with a rhinestone accented the waist. She carried a white satin basket with blue rose petals.

The bride, given in marriage by her father and escorted by her nephew Brien Branton of Armuchee, choose a white, strapless, luster satin gown with embroidery of pearl and crystal beading. The lace-up corset back was inlaid with marine blue on the semi-cathedral train as well as a bodice band on the front of the dress. She carried a bouquet of fresh white roses and calla lilies that was hand tied with marine blue and white beading.

The brother of the groom, Jamey Mattox of Calhoun, was the best man. Groomsmen were Davey Batey of Lafayette, cousin of the groom and Cy King of Armuchee, nephew of the bride.

The mother of the bride wore a formal dress of steel blue chiffon with an empire waist beaded accent. The mother of the groom wore a formal dress of navy blue chiffon with rhinestones accenting the bodice. The mothers of the bridal couple were presented with wrist corsages of white roses. The grandmothers of the bridal couple were presented with white rose corsages.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the church.

Refreshments included the bride’s three-tier white cake with cream cheese icing. The base of each hexagon tier was wrapped with marine blue rope to coordinate with the “God’s Knot” theme in the ceremony. Marine blue calla lilies accented the cake and the couples initials were scripted in marine blue icing on the top tier. The broom’s yellow cake with milk chocolate icing was decorated in the shape of a presents with a Harley motorcycle bride and groom figurine on the side.

The evening before the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a cook out at the church before the rehearsal. Other pre-nuptials parties included a “Wishing Well” shower hosted by the bride’s attendants and Martha Campbell and Juanita Rocca at Ebenezer Baptist Church, a couples miscellaneous and tool shower hosted by Ebenezer Baptist Church in Armuchee, a miscellaneous shower hosted by Hazel Mattox at her home in Calhoun, a miscellaneous shower hosted by the bride’s co-workers at Gordon Hospital in Calhoun, and a couple’s miscellaneous shower hosted by the couple’s Sunday School class at South Calhoun Baptist Church in Calhoun. After a wedding trip to Montego Bay Sandal resort in Jamaica, the couple will reside in Armuchee.
