The robbery occurred at approximately 11 a.m. at the facility on WC Bryant Parkway in Calhoun. The suspect, a black male, approached the theater holding a tubular cardboard package, according to Lt. Tony Pyle of the Calhoun Police Department.
The employee working at the time of the robbery opened the door for the man. Pyle said the employee thought the suspect was delivering a package to the theater.
The suspect then pulled out a small hand gun and told the employee to back up. He tied up the employee in the office of the theater and stole the victim’s iPhone as well as the cordless phone in the office, according to Pyle.
Both phones were later recoverd at the back of the cinema.
“He probably did that so the victim couldn’t call the police,” said Pyle.
The suspect then stole an undisclosed sum of money from the theater and fled.
After the employee wrangled loose from the binding, he made his way to the Bank of the Ozarks across the park-ing lot from the theater, to alert authorities of the robbery.
Police are still searching for the suspect and are currently following several leads, according to Pyle.
The black male is described as wearing a black shirt and Nike tennis shoes and driving a dark blue or black Chrysler vehicle, according to a media release by Chief Gary Moss.
Anyone who spots an individual fitting this descripition is asked to contact the Calhoun Police Department.
