The Gordon County Fire department recently received its state license for Emergency Medical Services, according to Chief David Hawkins. Five years in the making, the department has finally met all the requirements to be licensed by the state for EMS, and 28 of the department’s firefighters are now certified for EMS. “We are now able to go to the next level to provide care for the citizens of the county,” said Hawkins. The Gordon County Fire Department works hand-in-hand with Gordon County EMS, according to Hawkins, and all new hires to the department must be EMS certified or obtain certification in the first 2 years of service.
