Locals arrested for alleged copper theft

Two Calhoun men were arrested Thursday, July 29, in connection with a copper theft that took place at a power station located on Union Grove Road.

According to Calhoun Police Chief Garry Moss:

Alex Russell Middleton, 25, of 301 Crest Drive and Michael Charles Maloney, 23, of 103 Crest Drive, were arrested after officers patrolling the Union Grove Road and Clarence King Drive area noticed a vehicle making u-turns in the roadway and circling the power station.

As officers made an attempt to stop the vehicle, one of the suspects (Maloney) run from inside the power station and jumped into the vehicle.

The officers pursued the vehicle but the driver (Middleton) refused to stop, leading officers on a high speed chase that ended on Switch Road after the suspects’ vehicle became disabled.

Middleton faces charges of party to a crime, (theft by taking) fleeing and attempting to elude as well as numerous other traffic offences.

Maloney Faces charges of theft by taking, criminal damage to property and possession of burglary tools during the commission of a crime.

Both suspects remain in the Gordon County Jail with further charges pending.

the way i see it its really none ove ur concern my husband did not have nething to do with the stealin of that copper you dont know nething about it so y dont u keep ur comments 2 ur self bc honestly you dont know him and its ppl like you that love talking down about ppl and i could care less what you thing about it so have a blessed day bc trust me you need it....

maybe the officers should have just watched for a while, I mean sooner or later they might have grabbed the wrong wire
