According to Sheriff Mitch Ralston, at approximately 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night, sheriff's deputies responded to the report of a disturbance between neighbors at 143 Wayne Street in Calhoun.
When deputies approached the residence, they were reportedly met by Lelynn Guerin who threatened them with a shotgun.
The deputies called for assistance and later experienced a stand off at the residence. Their sergeant was able to successfully negotiated with Guerin by phone and convince him to surrender.
"Guerin, age 54, of 143 Wayne Street, was taken into custody without further incident and lodged in the county jail," said Ralston.
Sheriff's detectives later executed a search warrant at Guerin's home and recovered a small arsenal of revolvers, pistols, rifles, shotguns and a large amount of ammunition.
According to the sheriff, detectives also recovered a Lafayette, Ga. police uniform but do not believe that Guerin was ever employed as a policeman.
Detectives reportedly have reason to believe that Guerin has previous felony convictions for violent and weapons-related offenses.
"Guerin has been charged with aggravated assault on peace officers and convicted felon in possession of firearms," said Ralston. "He is awaiting bond proceedings."
