Sheriff's detectives are investigating a reported aggravated assault incident at 628 Craigtown Road near Resaca believed to have occurred Tuesday evening, July 6.

The assault is believed to have been the result of a domestic disturbance, and detectives believe that alcohol was involved. The victim, identified as a relative of the defendant, received what detectives described as non-life threatening injuries, and declined medical attention.

Deputy sheriffs arrested Joseph Jeremiah Redwine, 32, of 628 Craigtown Road, a short time later at a nearby residence. He was taken into custody without incident and charged with aggravated assault, battery, and cruelty to children.

He is in jail pending bond proceedings.
