Calhoun native Chad Wilson recently placed second in the Championship B Division of the North Georgia Invitational hosted at the Dalton Golf and Country Club. Wilson tied Neil Spitalny in regulation with a two day score of 140 but lost the tie-breaker.

Wilson currently attends Kennesaw State University where he plays for the golf team and is majoring in Education.

He competed in five events for the Owls during his junior year, with his top finish coming at the Palisades Collegiate Golf Classic in April where he shot an 11-over-par 227 to finish the tourney tied for 53rd.

Wilson, who was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Academic Team, will head back to KSU this fall with a scholarship and will be rooming with another Calhoun native, Sam Curtis.

Both Curtis and Wilson attended Calhoun High School and played under Coach Clay Stephenson.

“Chad is one of the nicest kids you will ever be around,” said Stephenson. “I am really proud of the way he works.”

Stephenson has seen Wilson’s grow with the game first hand.

“We still play together [at Fields Ferry] and I could beat him in high school but he beats me pretty regularly now,” said Stephenson. “It is good to see both him and Sam playing at the college level and hopefully they will play well together.”

Prior to KSU, Wilson attended Dalton State College for two seasons. In 2009 he qualified for the Georgia State Amateur after shooting a 70 in the qualifier.

Wilson was born in Dalton and is the son of Ann and Don Wilson. He has an older sister named Karen Babb. He enjoys finishing and basketball when not on the golf course.
