Queen graduates from Shorter

Bailie Queen recently graduated Cum Laude from Shorter College in Rome. She received a Bachelor of Music in music education with an emphasis in voice. Queen is a 2006 graduate of Gordon Central High School. While attending Shorter College, she was a member of the elite Shorter Chorale and president of Mu Phi Epsilon professional music fraternity. She had the opportunity to study abroad in England and Russia while attending Shorter. Queen has accepted a teaching position in LaGrange, Ga. She is the daughter of Ron and Noreen Queen of Calhoun. Her brother, Matthew, is also attending Shorter College.

Little named to C-N Dean’s List

Sara E. Little of Calhoun was named to the dean’s list at Carson-Newman College for the spring semester.

To be named to the dean’s list, a student must complete at least 12 credit hours of work and maintain a grade point average of at least 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale.

The announcement was made by Dr. Kina S. Mallard, provost.

Local students graduate from UGA

The University of Georgia held their commencement Saturday, May 8; 13 of the graduates were from Gordon County. They were:

Jennifer Leigh Bledsoe, Larry Leonard Cloud, Lindsay Lewis Etheridge, Meredith Anne Gilbert, Eric Olaf Hanson, Cara Camille McGowan, Ariel Ryan Pass, Jordan Leigh Seabolt, Amelia Brett Slaughter, Will Hunter Sullivan, Kathryn D. Thomason, Timber Rebecca Wages and Amanda Claire Webb.
