The community is encouraged to line the streets to welcome home the body of Sgt. Wayne Willard, which will arrive in Calhoun today.
A police-escorted convoy will carry the body from the Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson Airport up I-75, through town taking Highway 53, Highway 41 and Redbud Road to Thomas Funeral Home.
The plane is expected to arrive around 4:30 p.m., and a Delta Honor Guard will receive the body from the plane.
The Calhoun Fire Department will be setting up ladder trucks with an American flag.
Battalion Chief Charlie Kirby of the Calhoun Fire Department told the Calhoun Times that department members will set up the ladder trucks in front of the fire department between 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.
The fire department expects the convoy to arrive in Calhoun between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Wayne Willard, a former Calhoun Police officer, was killed June 7, in a suicide attack at a police training camp in Afghanistan.
