Three people have been arrested and placed in the Gordon County Jail after a meth bust late Thursday night.

According to Sheriff Mitch Ralston:

At about 11:30 p.m. on June 3 a deputy from the Community Crime Prevention Unit was on patrol in Resaca when he stopped an automobile occupied by a Chatsworth couple and a Dalton man.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed approximately one-half pound of methamphetamine. David Holmes, 32, and Rachel Holmes, 32, both of 39 Oak Drive, Chatsworth, Ga., and Cary Hawkins, 38, of 1751 Riverdale Road, Dalton, were all arrested without incident at the scene and lodged in the Gordon County Jail.

The three were charged with trafficking in methamphetamine which is a felony. The three are pending bond proceedings in Gordon County Superior Court.

The Community Crime Prevention Unit is composed of specially trained deputies, assisted by canine 'partners', who are deployed to high crime areas and high intensity traffic areas without restriction to zones or set time schedules.

By the looks of the beat up Cadillac confiscated by the police, these 3 are definitely in need of a new line of work. Evidently, with the downturn in the economy, crime doesn't pay!
