The camp, which drew between 45-50 kids, focused on teaching the basic fundamentals of the game.
“It is a good group and the kids have been excited, with a lot of energy, running around and having a lot of fun,” said Fisher. “We expected anywhere from 40-50 kids which is about our average.”
Fisher’s camp draws many returning campers including some that have attended all four years.
“It’s has been a good thing for them and I am excited about teaching them a little bit more before their football season comes up,” Fisher added.
The camp is being run by Fisher and helping him are all of the GC assistant football coaches as well as many high school and middle school players. Several former players have also been helping out.
Fisher hopes that the kids not only learn the basics of the game at the camp but also have a little fun along the way.
As for his players, Fisher believes that learning to work with kids is a great experience.
“They were that age at one time and I am sure they went to camps when they were that age and gained some experience,” Fisher said. “They can learn to work with little kids and pass down what it takes to be a high school football player.”
