Calhoun High School senior, Madison Bunch, received a $4,000 Most Valuable Student scholarship award from the Elks National Foundation.

Calhoun Elks Lodge #1883 sponsored the scholarship competition. Entry forms were distributed to the three local high schools.

Twelve local students returned entry forms to the Lodge. Two winners were chosen from these entries, one male and one female. These entries were then submitted to the Georgia Elks Association N.W. district for judging.

Bunch won first place at the district level, which came with a $1,250 award. She went on to the state level competition and won there as well.

After the local and state competitions, the state winners went to the national level to be judged. Bunch was one of the three winners from the state of Georgia. She will receive an all-expenses paid trip to the Georgia Elks Association’s annual convention to receive her state award.

This convention will be on Jekyll Island in June.
