Kmart to host carwash May 22

Kmart in Calhoun will host a car wash to benefit the March of Dimes March for Babies campaign Saturday, May 22, from 11a.m. to 4p.m. Car wash and vacuum are free to the public - however, donations are highly appreciated.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase for those while waiting for their vehicles. Children’s activities will include face painting and temporary tattoos.

As a National Partner of the March of Dimes, Kmart strives to support the March of Dimes mission by hosting a 14-week fund raising campaign annually. The Calhoun Kmart 2010 March for Babies campaign began Feb. 1 and ends May 31. The original goal was an aggressive $6,549, but it was surpassed in the first eight weeks of the campaign.

Dollars raised currently comes to $7,756 which, is the most the Calhoun Kmart has ever raised for a March of Dimes campaign.

The new goal is set at $9,000, the largest goal this Kmart has ever had.

The March of Dimes mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. March of Dimes marked its 27th year of partnership with Kmart in 2010. This is Kmart’s 17th year of national March For Babies sponsorship.
