Area museums are gearing up for International Museum Day, celebrated on May 18.

Oak Hill and The Martha Berry Museum will celebrate on Saturday, May 15, by offering free admission and refreshments for all museum guests.

That same day, Chieftains Museum is having free admission for everyone.

The Rome Area History Museum will be having their free admission day on May 18.

International Museum Day has been celebrated all over the world since 1977. Each year, a theme is chosen by the International Council of Museums Advisory Committee. The 2010 theme is “Museums for social harmony.”
