Have you ever wondered what to do with an old cell phone that you no longer use? The City of Fairmount and the students at Fairmount Elementary School want your phones. They are collecting them for the Gordon County Domestic Violence Outreach Office.

According to Beth Peters, director of the local program, “These phones will be sold to Shelter Alliance and the proceeds will be used for the clients to provide direct assistance. The phones that are in good working condition are also used by the clients in their safety planning.”

The Domestic Violence Outreach Office is a United Way agency that is working in Gordon County to assist victims of domestic abuse. Cell-phones may also be dropped off at the United Way of Gordon County office at the Calhoun Depot downtown. Chargers and phone are needed regardless of their condition.
