Woman arrested in Calhoun, charged with possession of marijuana

One woman has been arrested and placed in the Gordon County jail after drugs were found in her vehicle.

Jessica L. Franklin, 20, of Lafayette was arrested after being stopped at a checkpoint on Lovers Lane Friday night.

Franklin was charged felony possession of marijuana approximately two pounds of marijuana, felony possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and driving without a license on person.

According to the Georgia State Patrol Post 43 in Calhoun, when the driver approached the checkpoint the officer on duty detected a raw odor of marijuana.

Upon inspection of the vehicle, the officer located the marijuana in bags under the driver and passenger seats.

Franklin was transported to the Gordon County Sheriffs office for booking.
