Local Students Recognized at Reinhardt College Honors Day

Eight local students were among the 172 students and one faculty member recognized at Reinhardt College’s Honors Day recently.

Calhoun residents Jason LeBoeuf and Crystal Thomas and Julia Cook of Fairmount were all recognized as Hugh Peterson Jr. Academic Scholars on April 25.

This academic award is awarded to seniors and juniors with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.6 to 3.89.

These three students were also recognized for their achievements in academic societies at the school.

LeBoeuf is a member in Alpha Chi, a national honor society for students from all academic disciplines. The membership is limited to the top 10 percent of an institution’s seniors and juniors.

Cook is a member in Pi Kappa Lambda, a music honor society. The membership limited to those who have achieved superior attainment in music combined with the personal qualifications of being an outstanding exponent of the art.

During awards night, Calhoun resident Hailey Housley, Gwendolyn Yarbrough of Plainville and Leslie Zuidema of Fairmount were honored as members of Alpha Chi.

Zuidema was also recognized as a Hugh Peterson Jr. Academic Scholar, awarded to seniors and juniors with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.6 to 3.89.

Tabitha Payne of Calhoun and Jayme Dodd of Fairmount were recognized as Reinhardt College Academic Scholars. This is an award given to seniors and juniors with a cumulative grade point average of 3.9 or higher.

Also noted was Dodd being named as a Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, which recognizes exemplary leadership ability, academic performance and potential for the future.
