One man is in jail after being apprehended by the Gordon County Community Crime Prevention Unit (CCPU)Tuesday afternoon.

According to Sheriff Mitch Ralston:

At approximately 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, sheriff's deputies were assigned to the CCPU stopped an automobile on Highway 53 in Calhoun.

A search of the man's automobile revealed a large amount of methamphetamine.

Deputies identified the man as Anthony Dean South, 36, of 8791 US Highway 421 North, Vilas, NC.

He was arrested without incident and taken to the county jail where he was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine.
