The artists plan a 1 p.m. protest Monday to encourage lawmakers to restore funding for the state agency, which would be eliminated under a budget proposal adopted last week by the House.
The council is a clearinghouse for federal funds from the National Endowment for the Arts, which gave Georgia more than $800,000 last year.
Georgia would be the only state in the nation without a state arts agency recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts if the council is eliminated.
