Mason Mattila, a 9-year-old Gordon County resident, is hoping for a Walt Disney World vacation.

Mason can win a free vacation to Disney World, if he receives the most votes on www.youtube.com as a Diabetes video contestant.

Help Mason win by visiting youtube.com and in the search box type “Mason’s Video: The Sugar Crew.”

In order for Mason to receive a vote, press the “Like” button — located on the left side of the screen.

Mason is a part of a nationwide contest through Medtronic Diabetes, a diabetes insulin pump company that is promoting Diabetes awareness messages in video.

In the video, Mason performs a one-of-a-kind, upbeat rap song that he wrote about living with Diabetes.

“It’s important because it helps Mason to accept his disease and help other kids to accept it,” said his dad Donald Mattila.

Mason is a type one diabetic, who has learned to manage his diabetes. He was diagnosed two years ago when some of the symptoms, such as poor appetite and weight loss, began effecting his health.

“Obtaining it at a young age has helped him conform to the limitations of the disease and he’s able to be active,” said his dad.

He attends Red Bud Elementary School, plays baseball and attends diabetic education camp in the summer.

His parents Donald and Angela Mattila are asking for everyone to help by voting continuously.

“Vote a lot. This is a nationwide contest for Diabetes awareness. Mason is one of 19 videos selected to be judged nationwide,” Donald said.

“Please post the site on your Facebook and email to as many people as you can for voting,” he added.
