The Gordon County Chamber of Commerce has been recognized for their efforts to promote a drug free community.

Gov. Sonny Perdue and the 2010 Georgia Red Ribbon Campaign recognized the commerce for its "exemplary promotion of drug free activities during Red Ribbon Week." The chamber was presented a first place award announcement and trophy presentation at the Governor's Drugs Don't Work Awards Event at the State Capital on Thursday, April 1.

"We are so proud and excited," said Joni Harbin commerce director of communications.

Shawn Mashburn, Director of Drugs Don't Work for the Chamber, was present at the ceremony, joined by representatives from the Gordon County Sheriff's Office and Calhoun City Schools. State Representative Johnny Meadows was also present.
