4-H earns state awards

Gordon County 4-H’s Jr. Livestock Judging team won at the state contest for the second year in a row. The 2010 Georgia 4-H State Livestock Judging Contest was held Satruday at UGA’s Livestock Arena. Ten junior teams competed in the event. Team members for Gordon County included An-neke Carr, who placed High Individual, Makayla Holmes, who placed second High Individual, Caleb Carr, who placed 10th High Individual, Will McDaniel the fourth member of the winning team and Kam Childers who competed as an individual and placed 25th overall.

The senior team placed fiftha nd including Erin Carroll, Madison Smith, Katie Sutherland, and Tayler Turnquist. Smith was fifth High Individual in cattle and Turnquist was 11th overall.
