Regional water planning council meets Wednesday

The Coosa-North Georgia Water Planning Council will meet Wednesday in the Calhoun Depot, 109 South King St.

The 18-county organization is one of 11 councils charged with creating regional water management plans to be folded into a statewide plan.

In addition to Floyd, its members are Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Dawson, Fannin, Gilmer, Gordon, Habersham, Lumpkin, Murray, Pickens, Polk, Towns, Union, Walker, White, and Whitfield counties.

Floyd County's representatives to the 25-person council are Rome City Manager John Bennett, County Commissioner Irwin Bagwell and Jerry Jennings, founder and chair of the Northwest Georgia Regional Water Resources partnership.
