Cole, who wrestlers in the six-and-under, 37-pound class, went 4-0 in the tourney. He was the clubs third state champion in its short history.
Tyler (10-and-under, 55-pounds) went 3-1 in the tourney, losing in the championship match 5-1.
Easton, (six-and-under, 34-pound) also went 3-1 for a second place finish despite being in his first year of wrestling.
“The Kids State Tournament is a tough tournament,” said Coach Greg Hunt. “Unlike high school where there are individual state tournaments for 1A-5A schools, these kids are wrestling in one tournament with 1,500 kids that covers the entire state of Georgia.”
Hunt took over the head coaching job after former coach Rick )’Mahony passed way earlier in the year in a car accident.
“He founded our club four years ago and was the corner stone of our club,” said Hunt. “Coach Ricky coached a kid to a state title two out of the past three years.”
“I’m glad we were able to keep his streak going,” Hunt added. “We finished strong this year. I am proud of all our wrestlers and I know Coach Ricky is too.”
