Tallatoona Community Action Partners in Calhoun has received more funds to help with energy bills says director, Sheila Callaway.

Tallatoona joins eight other organizations in receiving extra funds to assist those who need help with energy bills.

The additional funds will help those who had not received energy assistance since Nov. 1 and can be used to pay a primary heating bill.

In November Tallatoona received more than $575,000 in federal funds to assist local families with heating services.

Callaway said anyone needing assistance can call 706-629-2333 to set up an appointment. Once an appointment has been made several items must be brought to the appointment including a social security check stub, social security card, heat bill and proof of age.

Callaway said that last year Tallatoona saw a big influx in the numbers of those applying for crisis dollars.

The program is confidential, Callaway stresses, and she said that more than 90 percent of all applicants are eligible.

To set up an appointment with Tallataoona CAP call 706-629-2333.
