CHATSWORTH, Ga. (AP) — Dozens of people are facing animal cruelty charges after a cockfighting raid in north Georgia.

Murray County Sheriff Howard Ensley said officers raided a cockfighting site near Chatsworth on Saturday morning. He says the operation had been under investigation for a while.

Ensley said more than 60 people were arrested, and there could be additional arrests.

The sheriff said most people were charged with cruelty to animals and gambling. Two were charged with drug offenses.

I think it's a waste of tax payer's money for this to have taken place, I mean come on now 10 different law enforcement groups? Who was watching over our streets while all the police were there? Last time I needed the law it took them almost 45 min to get there, and why was that? ... Well because they were understaffed, at least that's what I was told. They probally stopped for donuts and coffee!

I hope that these people are punished to the fullest extent. The longest sentence allowed for this crime is not long enough for them.
