Gordon County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a shooting death that occurred in Calhoun on Friday March 12.

According to Sheriff Mitch Ralston:

At approximately 11:15 a.m. Friday, deputy sheriffs and detectives were dispatched to 126 Ridgecrest Drive regarding a shooting death.

Responding deputies discovered the body of Albert Jerry Gann, 43. Gann had suffered what appeared to be a self inflicted gunshot wound.

Investigating detectives have reason to believe that alcohol and prescription drugs may have been factors in this incident. The body was initially found by a family member.

Gann's body was sent to the State Crime Laboratory in Decatur, Georgia to undergo a post-mortem examination.

Detectives do not at this time have reason to suspect foul play, and the investigation is continuing in conjunction with the Gordon County Coroner's Office.
