According to Lance, grants typically range from $1,000 to $5,000, supporting a multitude of projects each year that create opportunity, nurture both individual and family self-sufficiency, target root causes of problems, and foster collaboration within the Gordon County community.
“We are proud of the work that we do,” said Lance. “Along with promoting and facilitating acts of charity in and around Gordon County, we also award small grants to our local nonprofit organizations twice each year.”
Foundation Secretary Donna McEntyre added, “One of the most valuable aspects of the Community Foundation is that the endowment provides a perpetual and self-renewing source of grant funds to our community.”
The Calhoun-Gordon Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Northwest Georgia, was established in November of 2004 to promote philanthropy and build local endowment resources for the residents of Calhoun and Gordon County.
The Calhoun-Gordon Community Foundation welcomes applications from organizations that provide services to Gordon County and have tax exempt status. To apply for a spring grant, visit their Web site at www.communityfoundationnwga.org and complete the online application. Grant recipients will be announced in May.
Individuals or organizations interested in supporting the Foundation’s endowment are encouraged to contact Foundation Secretary Donna McEntyre. Donations may be mailed to the Calhoun-Gordon Community Foundation, PO Box 2226, Calhoun, GA 30703.
