Local cheerleaders do well with Devilray All-Star Senior Level 4 team

The Devilray All-star Senior Level 4 team traveled to Dallas, Texas the weekend of Feb. 20-21 to compete in the National Cheerleaders Association’s annual National Championship.

The team is made up of middle and high school cheerleaders from Bartow, Gordon and Whitfield Counties and includes local cheerleaders Callie Walraven, Sonoraville High, and Katelyn and Kristen Langston, Calhoun High.

The team is coached by Dan Szweda, Doug Bond and Heath Hurst of the Devilray All-star Cheer and Gymnastics Facility in Cartersville.

The NCA competition in Dallas is the “who’s who” of Cheerleading. All the elite squads in the United States travel there.

It was a great weekend for all Devil Ray teams as all finished in the top three spots in their divisions.

Mini’s wont the national championship, Junior Level 2 placed second, Senior Level 2 finished third, and Senior Level 4 – finished second.

It has been a great year for the Senior Level 4 team. They finished first in the Athletic Championship in Chattanooga, second in the NCA Regional in Gwinnett, third at Cheersport in Atlanta, and second at the NCA in Dallas.

The Devilray All-stars have one final competition of the year, in Jacksonville, Florida in March. The Level 4 team is making a push to compete level 5 in Jacksonville to prepare them for next year’s cheer season as a Level 5 team.
