The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program is in its 52nd year and has honored more than 21,500 students and teachers. To be recognized as a STAR student, high school seniors must have the highest score on a single test date on the three-part SAT and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average. Their STAR student chooses their STAR teacher to share in the recognition. The STAR students from the city and county will compete for region honors at the Seven Hills Rotary at the Coosa Country Club on March 16 at 6 p.m., and the region winner will compete for the honor of being named the State STAR Student.
