Calhoun City Board of Education approved posting the proposed 2010-2011 school calendar online at a called meeting Tuesday afternoon.

This year, the Calhoun City Schools calendar features a longer winter intersession — a weeklong winter break, from Feb. 16 through Feb. 19.

Due to mandatory test dates, Superintendent Michele Taylor explained that some of the breaks were changed slightly — in order to fit into the 180-day, student school schedule for 2010-2011 calendar.

The meeting, which was held at Calhoun’s Central office, was short and to the point. And following the discussion of the calendar the members of the Board and Superintendent met behind closed doors in executive session.

Visit www.calhounschools.org to see the 2010-2011 calendar. The next long break for students is Spring break, which is April 5-9 for Calhoun City Schools.

The next board meeting is scheduled at the Calhoun Depot at 6 p.m. on Feb. 23.
