There seems to be no clear voice directing us to the path we should travel. Everywhere there is frustration, fear, despair and utter confusion. Daniel O’Connell said, “Nothing is politically right which is morally wrong.” Many are saying today that nothing is politically correct if it mentions the name of God or offends anyone.
The difference between a politician and a statesman is very simple; a politician is always concerned and thinking about the next election, the statesman is thinking about your grandchildren and future generations.
Never use the phrase, “I can’t do that!” Unless hope lives in our hearts the future is bound to fail; it looks dark and impossible.
Years ago, when the unknown poet wrote the following lines, he hit the nail on the head:
“The man who misses all the fun,
Is he who says, ‘It can’t be done.’
In solemn pride he stands aloof,
And greets each venture with reproof;
Had he the power he would efface
The history of the human race;
We’d have no radio or trolley cars;
No streets lit by electric stars;
Neither telegraphs nor telephones,
We’d linger in the age of stone.
The world would sleep if things were run
By the men who say, ‘It can’t be done.’”
“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle,” Jesus said to His disciples, “Than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God.” (Mark 10:25)
His disciples were astonished and said among themselves, “Who can be saved?” Jesus said to them, “With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.”
God never gives us a burden which is greater than our strength. The wise Seneca announced, “There is nothing which persevering effort and unceasing and diligent care cannot overcome.” Never forget that! Ovid said, “Endure and persist: this pain will turn to your good.”
If you are doing the right thing, never give up and you will win the battle. God guarantees it, double your money back. Here is more good advice from an unknown poet:
“Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up
When he could have captured the victor’s cup.
He learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How very close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tints of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are;
It may be near when it seems so far.
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit,
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.”
The magic of success is keep doing your best in the worst of times, and when the storms cease you can rest in perfect peace and God’s neverending love.
If you are doing the right thing, no matter how heavy your burden or how great your pain, trust in God, do your best and when the journey ends you will smell the roses of triumph and wear the golden crown.
