Two people were arrested in Calhoun Tuesday after allegedly attempting to pass counterfeit bills at the Prime Outlet Mall.
According to Chief Garry Moss:
Shayla Renelad Martin, 26 of Riverdale, Ga., and Karl B. Hollingsworth, 27 of Jonesboro, Ga., were both arrested and charged with eight counts of forgery and one count of possession of counterfeit notes.

One of the suspects, later identified as Karl B. Hollingsworth, became loud and irate with officers, claiming he had no knowledge of the female suspect passing the counterfeit bills. Officers were able to gather evidence linking both suspects to the crime.
The two were arrested at the Prime Outlet Mall when officers discovered both suspects had counterfeit one hundred dollar bills in their possession. Investigators also discovered thirty counterfeit one hundred dollar bills in the suspect’s vehicle.
“We have contacted the Atlanta office of the secret service and will be working in conjunction with this agency, in an attempt to uncover the origin of these bills,” Det. Lt. Tony Pyle.
Both suspects remain in the Gordon County Jail awaiting bond.
