Sheriff's department investigates brother murder- suicide



The Gordon County law enforcement personnel are investigating a possible murder suicide that occurred sometime Sunday.

According to Deputy Coroner Bo Nicholson: Brothers, Jerry Cox 61, and Roger Cox, 57, were found dead in their home located at 250C Knight Road in Ranger Sunday evening.

Nicholson said that a neighbor called 911 at approximately 8:03 p.m. Sunday night after attempting to visit the two men and finding no response.

According to sheriff's deputies, investigating detectives believe one of the men, shot and killed the other before killing himself.

Detectives executed a search warrant at the home, and several articles of evidence were collected.

The two men died of apparent gun shot wounds, said Nicholson. The official time of death was 9:47 p.m., however Nicholson said the two had been dead for several hours.

Jerry Cox's children been notified, and officials are still looking for Roger Cox’s immediate family.

Two bodies have been transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Decatur for post-mortem inspection.

this is so sad. so many people are resorting to guns and violence. suicide is a permanant end to a temporary problem. also if you chose to take your life dont take anothers to, they might just like it here
