Gordon County deputies assist in seizure of $100,000 of drugs

Acting on intelligence gathered during a month-long undercover investigation by the department’s drug unit, Dalton Police officers arrested four men and seized approximately 50 pounds of marijuana and two ounces of “ice” methamphetamine Thursday night after performing a traffic stop on I-75 north of the Rocky Face exit.

Bryan Torres Montiel, 23, of 300 Nixon St. in Albertville, Ala. was charged with trafficking in marijuana and trafficking in methamphetamine; Roberto Diaz Celis, 29, of Albertville, was charged with trafficking in marijuana; Rodolfo Jonathan Amaya-Gilliano, 22, of 300 Nixon St. in Albertville, was charged with trafficking in marijuana; and Effrain Ruiz Ortiz, 22, of 6232 County Road 104 in Crossville, Ala., was charged with possession of meth and trafficking in marijuana.

The combined street value of the seized drugs is estimated at approximately $100,000. Agents from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Conasauga Safe Streets Task Force and the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit assisted in the operation.
