Two Gordon County men were arrested as part of a child porn sting. The operation concluded a three month investigation coordinated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

Michael Eugene Haygood, 44, of 597 Folsom Road, Fairmount, Georgia and Franklin Frederick Risley, age 67, of 135 Windy Hill Drive,Fairmount, Georgia were both arrested by Gordon County Sheriff’s deputies on Tuesday in connection with the distribution of child porn over the Internet.

Eighty-eight search warrants were executed throughout the state as part of “Operation Restore Hope,” a statewide proactive peer to peer child pornography sharing investigation that was begun in October.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says warrants are being executed in 34 counties in connection with the distribution of child porn over the Internet.

The GBI said Tuesday the warrants stem from a three-month investigation begun in October centered on the ability of GBI agents assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to detect specific child porn images being shared over the Internet.

Other law enforcement agencies in Georgia also located targets involved in the Internet child porn trade.

The mission of the task force, created by the U. S. Department of Justice and housed within the GBI, is to assist state and local law enforcement agencies in developing an effective response to cyber enticement and child pornography cases.
