The Gordon County Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, at the Sonoraville Recreation Complex. Tickets are on sale now at the Chamber.

Last year's Chairman, Larry Vickery, will offer his parting comments as he relinquishes his position and Debra Guinter, Vice-President of DRO Management, will be installed as the current Chair. Guinter will deliver her inaugural address during the event, outlining her vision for the Chamber in the coming year. Dewayne Bowen will be installed as Vice-Chair and David Scoggins will be installed as Secretary-Treasurer.

Augusta's Tripp Bowden, author of Freddie and Me, will be the keynote speaker at the event. Bowden is a dynamic and engaging speaker expected to deliver an interactive, thought-provoking address certain to motivate and entertain. Freddie and Me was published in March 2009 and has been extremely well-received, earning a glowing review from the prestigious New York Times. The book currently holds 4th position on Amazon's “Top Ten” list of golf books, although the message of Freddie and Me is not limited to the golf course.

Seven corporate members of the Chamber will support the event as premier sponsors at the Gold Level: Fox Systems, Georgia Bank & Trust, Gordon Hospital, Mohawk Industries, NorthSide Bank, Northwest Georgia Surgical Associates and Santek Environmental/Waste Services of Georgia.

Georgia Northwestern Technical College, LG Hausys America, Mannington Mills, North Georgia National Bank, Omnova Solutions, Regions Bank, Shaw Industries and Winter & Scoggins, CPA's P.C. will support the event as Silver Level sponsors.

WHAT? NO GUEST SPEAKER BY THE LAST NAME OF "LANCE?" I can't even begin to imagine why not? The apple doesn't fall far from the tree! Just another example of conduct among the "Beautiful 400!"
