Update: Snow flurries spotting in Calhoun

Gordon County is under a winter weather advisory today, according to the National Weather Service.

The advisory goes into effect at noon today.

Snow is expected to accumulate this afternoon and continue through the evening. The National Weather Services is estimating a half inch to two inches of snow.

The National Weather Service is also cautioning drivers that there will be sleet or ice on roadways, which will make driving hazardous.

The service is cautioning drivers to allow extra travel time on Friday as ice will remain on roadways.

Today's low is 17 with the high expected to be around 41. There is an 80 percent chance of rain or snowfall.

Friday's low is 16 with the high of 30. Icy roadways are expected.

The low for Saturday is 15 with a high of 31.

Calhoun City Schools will be closed on Friday Jan. 8.

The Calhoun Times will be reporting on all other schools when information is available.
