Calhoun PD investigates assault

Calhoun Police are investigating an assault that took place Monday around 9:00 p.m.

According to Calhoun Police:

Kit Patrick Hopkins, 38, of Calhoun, remains in the Gordon County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, battery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Officers were called to a Mount Vernon Drive address after the complainant, who said Hopkins held a handgun to her head and threatened to shoot her, broke free from the suspect and called 911 from a near by residence. Hopkins, who had fled the scene, was arrested after officers found him walking near Mount Vernon Drive.

Hopkins was arrested without incident. He was unarmed at the time of his arrest, but officers later discovered the suspect’s weapon at the incident location.
