Reports indicate alcohol was not involved in the fatality and there were no other passengers, and Bartow County Troopers responded to the crash around 4 a.m.

“The accident is still under investigation,” Spruiell stated.

O’Mahony was a graduate of Calhoun High School, and served in the United States Army, according to Max Brannon Funeral home.

The Georgia State Patrol had reported a total of two fatalities statewide New Year’s Day.

Spuiell said the other fatality occurred in Cherokee County.”
