The Gordon County Tax Commissioners Office will issue tax bills this week. Tax Commissioner Scott Clements says bills should be received by the end of the week.

However, bills can be paid immediately by visiting the Gordon County Web site. Clements said those not wishing to pay their bills online can print the bill out, and mail in a payment to 101 Piedmont Street, P.O. Box 337,

Calhoun, Ga., 30703.

MadGranny, I am in NO WAY defending Alvin Long. I've already made up my mind to vote against every incumbent commissioner when the opportunity arises. However, if you're going to argue a point, make sure you're comparing apples to apples. Alvin Long lives inside the city limits. The amount shown on his tax bill is for the county government portion of his taxes only. There are no school taxes added to this bill, because he pays city government and city school taxes to the city of Calhoun. Regardless, he's certainly been no friend to the taxpayers. None of the commissioners have. They may not have control over the Tax Assessor's office, but they have not been there as a viable representative of the people the Tax Assessor's office has dealt such a blow.

bE SITTING DOWN WHEN YOU OPEN YOUR TAX BILL. ALVIN LONG HAS REALLY PUT THE SCREWS TO US THIS TIME! HE LIVES IN ONE OF THE UP-SCALE SUBDIVISION AND HIS TAX IS LOWER THAN MINE FOR A 3 BEDROOM HOME.
