ROCK SPRING, Ga. -- Northwest Georgia development officials say the region has taken big steps over the past year, but they are disappointed they haven't landed any Volkswagen suppliers.

"We would have thought by this point we would have known who they had chosen," said Sen. Jeff Mullis, R-Chickamauga, before the Northwest Georgia Joint Development Authority's quarterly meeting this week.

Sen. Mullis said Thursday that the authority's biggest accomplishment for the year was generating international interest in the region, but the biggest disappointment was not hearing more from Volkswagen.

"There's actually activity in every county with prospects," said Sen. Mullis.
