Students, teachers and staff at Sonoraville Middle that evacuated from the school this morning following a bomb threat have now returned back to the school, officials stated.

According to information officer Chief Robert Paris, a chief deputy with the Gordon County Sheriff's Office, the Sheriff's unit did not find any bombs inside of the school.

"We aren't ready to give an update," Paris said.

The unit is continuing to investigate.

Gordon County Schools Superintendent Bill McCown said the students evacuated this morning and walked to Sonoraville High School after a student reported to a teacher a hand written bomb threat inside of the school.

According to E-911, they received the call at 11:13 a.m. and the Sheriff's Deputy, police, and Emergency Management were on the scene investigating the threat.

During the bomb evacuation, e-mails and phone calls were sent to parent quickly, officials said.

A parent link was sent to all parents to inform them of the situation, and will allow any parent to check their child out at SHS until the school has been safely cleared to reenter.

School officials have also reminded parents of the students at SMS not to panic and that all of the students are safe inside of the SHS gym.

More details to follow.

EchotaMan - How dumb are you? Saftey of our children comes first. Thank you Mr. McCown and the teachers at SMS and GC. Thankfully we have people who care about our children, and very few who are like Mr. EchotaMan.
