CMS girls defeat cross-town Ashworth

The CMS girls’ basketball team defeated Ashworth Saturday 45-18 in a battle of county rivals.

The Lady Jackets used a complete team effort to improve to 7-0 on the season.

Leading the squad to victory was Wimberly Roe, who netted a game high 10 points. Tess Wright, Olivia Wilkey, Amber Parker and Molly Palmer each netted six points. Parker added three steals and Palmer grabbed eight rebounds. Kyleigh Carney scored two points and added five assists.

For the Lady Warriors (5-2), Ashley Farrell led the team with eight points. Kristi Vaughn added six points and eight rebounds. Carissa Crump and Shawnda Martin each scored two.

J.V.

The Lady Jackets J.V. team also improved to 7-0 with a 42-4 win over the Lady Warriors.

For Calhoun, Sydnie Parker scored 11 points and added seven steals and three assists. Madeline Parker and Daisy Carpenter each scored six. Elizabeth Defalco and Peyton Clark netted four apiece.

Torye Parker and Megan Campbell each scored two for Ashworth (1-6).

Calhoun will play Adairsville Thursday. The J.V. girls are set for 4:30 p.m. and the varsity team will play at 5:30 p.m.

Ashworth will play Cartersville on Thursday.
