Fan information:
Calhoun High School has planned several festivities in conjunction with the game. Thursday afternoon the senior football players and cheerleaders have been invited to walk the halls and visit with the students at the middle school. Thursday night, the football team, cheerleaders and band will also participate in Calhoun’s Annual Christmas Parade hosted by the Chamber of Commerce.
The parade will begin at 7 p.m. City schools superintendent Michele Taylor is encouraging everyone to wear black and gold and display banners and signs of support at home and their place of business this week. Thursday and Friday are designated “Spirit Days.”
There will be early release for students on Friday, Dec. 11. “Parents, students and staff are encouraged to go to the game to help support the team,” said Taylor. The after-school care program will be available for parents who wish to use the service.
The cost is $7 for those taking advantage of this on Friday and will operate until 6 p.m. Fan transportation: Also, plans are being made for a “fan bus” for staff and fans to travel to the Dome. This will be a Calhoun City School Bus. Any students riding the bus must be accompanied by a parent. A $5 fee will be charged to cover fuel costs. This bus will be limited to the first 50 people who pay their fee. Riders need to purchase tickets before leaving Calhoun.
The bus will depart from Yellow Jacket Drive and will travel with the band buses. Approximate time returning will be 9 p.m. Plans for the bus are still tentative. Call the Calhoun High School main office at 706-629-9213 for ticket and departure time information.
Tickets:
CHS has approximately 4,000 tickets. Calhoun High School is selling dome tickets at $15 pre-game costs. For tickets call the high school at 706-629-9213. Calhoun High School will sit on the visitor’s side. Gates A and D on the south side will open one hour before game time. The pass gate will be housed between gate A and D. Since it is an outside sport being played inside, GHSA is allowing noisemakers such as shakers, but no air horns or whistles.
Where you can see the game?
No ticket to the game? No problem. Restaurants throughout Calhoun will have the game viewable. The Dawg Pound, Long Horn and Ruby Tuesday will all have the game playing for patrons.
“We are pretty excited,” said Ruby Tuesday manager, Eric Bright. The Atlanta Gate Restaurant and Schroeder’s New Deli will also have the game ready for customers.
“We want to be of support to the community,” said Schroeder’s co-owner Kristina Maddux. “We want to be a gathering place where people can come and watch the game, not just a place where people eat and then leave.”
