A light snow was falling Saturday morning in parts of Gordon County as a band of cold moist air moved into Georgia.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for portions of Northwest and North Georgia effective from 1 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday.

Forecasters say that the precipitation will begin as light rain, then change into sleet after midnight.

As it gets closer to sunrise, it was expected to turn to snow in parts of North and Northwest Georgia.

Some light snow accumulation is possible with amounts generally less than a half an inch north of a Carrollton through Marietta and Dawsonville to Cleveland line. Forecasters say the snowfall should end before noon.

And in the North Georgia mountians about an inch or more of snow, ending sometime Saturday afternoon.
